Rachel L. Spieldoch, MD, FACOG
Dr. Rachel Spieldoch is a board certified Gynecologist and fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Spieldoch specializes in minimally invasive surgery which includes advanced laparoscopic surgery as well as vaginal and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery. She additionally is recognized for her expertise in Da Vinci robotic laparoscopic surgery and has completed Masters training for robotic surgery. She is actively involved with the robotics committee as well as the committee devoted to creating a center of excellence for minimally invasive surgery at Scottsdale Healthcare. She is actively involved with the robotics committee as well as the committee devoted to maintaining a center of excellence in Gynecologic Minimally Invasive Surgery at Scottsdale Healthcare. Dr. Spieldoch strongly believes that minimally invasive surgery offers better outcomes for patients. This includes less pain, shorter hospital stay, significantly less blood loss and most important, faster recovery to normal activities of living.
Dr. Spieldoch is an active member with the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Medical Association, as well as the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Rachel Spieldoch, MD has been an AAGL Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology designee since July 2013. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, she completed her medical school training at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She then went on to complete four years of specialty training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received specialized training in minimally invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. Dr. Spieldoch remains current with new advances in gynecology in addition to remaining up-to-date with certification and continuing medical education on an annual basis.
Dr. Spieldoch has published several articles within the medical sciences and has presented her research at the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology national meeting. Additionally, she spent time practicing medicine with the Indian Health Services on the Apache reservation in White River, Arizona. Currently, she is very active in the community as an educational speaker advocating minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Her practice encompasses the full scope of gynecologic needs, including problems associated with the uterus and ovaries, pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence, treatment of uterine fibroids and labial reduction. She performs in-office endometrial ablation procedures which eliminates troublesome menstrual bleeding with little to no down time. She has expertise in addressing hormonal issues and menopausal symptoms with effective treatments such as individualized bio-identical hormone therapies, and time-released hormone pellets.
In her free time, Dr. Spieldoch values spending quality time with her family and new son. She enjoys many athletic activities including tennis, skiing, and hiking. She donates annually to the National Parks Conservation Association. She also enjoys the Arts and attends local theater and music venues within the Phoenix area. Dr. Spieldoch is an animal lover and seems to have a soft spot for elephant wildlife to which she donates annually. She also donates to The National Parks Conservation Association and World Wildlife Fund. Finally, she enjoys traveling and hopes to continue exploring new cultural areas in the upcoming years.
Joanne Boyd, BC-WHNP
Joanne has been specializing in Women’s Healthcare for over 20 years, and is excited to have relocated from Chicago to Arizona in 2014. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Utah, where her enthusiasm for Obstetrics led her to pursue her Master’s degree at the University of Minnesota as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified. Her scope of medical care also includes adult education classes relating to Women’s Health, as well as serving as an adjunct faculty member in the Baccalaureate Nursing programs at several universities.
She has a special interest in treating and educating adolescents. She believes that her role as a healthcare provider can encourage healthy behaviors that ultimately set into motion smart sexual and lifestyle choices. Her 20 year experience in well-woman exams, contraceptive management, sexually transmitted infection, hormone replacement therapy and issues relating to the peri- and post-menopausal woman. Her expert care for women facing the many challenges of menopause includes bioidentical hormone therapy. Her philosophies are committed to caring for the mind, body and spirit throughout a woman’s life.
Much to her delight, Joanne’s three children and granddaughter all reside in the Phoenix area. In her free time, she enjoys quality time with her family. Additionally, she loves the Western landscapes and stays active with hiking, camping, biking and kayaking. One highlight for her since moving to Arizona was rafting through the Grand Canyon.
