VOTIVA RF Treatments and Medical Indications for Vaginal Health
Home | Blogs

There is a plethora of information about Votiva Vaginal Rejuvenation on the internet which seem to mainly focus on cosmetic concerns, boosting sex drive, increasing sexual sensation and improving sexual pleasure. While these benefits are definitely achievable and a common reason that patients inquire about Votive, there are so many other helpful uses!

What is VOTIVA RF?

Votiva is a non-surgical treatment that utilizes the newest radiofrequency (RF) engineering technology to rejuvenate vulvar and vaginal tissues. A skilled and trained medical provider will perform your treatment with the use of a small wand that passes radiofrequency energy beyond the surface level tissue to stimulate production of certain proteins which encourages tissue regrowth and repair.

A bit more technical:

When radiofrequency is applied to the vaginal wall it can stimulate production of glycogen-enriched epithelium along with new vascular and collagen formation. Once the device generates the appropriate temperature, an inflammatory cascade is initiated triggering fibroblasts to make new collagen and elastin cells. The Votiva device has temperature sensors and a maximum temperature cutoff to ensure safety and comfort without causing surface tissue damage.

So, what are the many uses of Votiva treatments?

  • Improve sexual interest and pleasure by increasing sensitivity with increased blood flow to the area
  • Treat pain with intercourse when due to vaginal dryness by creating vaginal mucous and lubrication
  • Reduces stress incontinence (the well-known laugh, cough, sneeze, jump leakage) and urge incontinence (when the urge to urinate is too great to hold it long enough to make it to the bathroom)
  • Can help bladder, uterine and rectal prolapse into the vaginal canal by regaining strength of the pelvic floor muscles
  • Reduce episodes of recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Reduce episodes of vaginal infections (infections not associated with STDs) by helping to maintain proper vaginal pH
  • Helps reduce vulvar flare-ups of lichen sclerosis by attracting healing factors and healthy blood flow to the area
  • Can help relax scar tissue from tearing or episiotomy repairs during childbirth which can make intercourse uncomfortable
  • Regain loss of elasticity of the vaginal opening and vaginal walls and reverse vaginal tissue thinning due to loss of estrogen during and after menopause
